The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) regulates all horticultural growing media, such as potting soil, sold in Georgia. We make sure that businesses and home gardeners get products that comply with quality standards and are labeled correctly.

To protect consumers and maintain consistency in the potting soil industry, the Georgia Department of Agriculture regulates labeling and soil media composition.
We register and approve potting soils and all label information, including the base material, percentage of peat, bark, and other contents.
