ATLANTA, GA – Today, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper announced that the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) has adopted the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Fuel Waiver issued on August 20, 2026, to help address fuel supply disruptions impacting refining capacity and energy distribution across the country and lower gas prices for Georgians.
“As high fuel prices persist, we’re taking action to give Georgians a break at the gas pump,” said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper. “By adopting this federal waiver, we’re able to increase the available supply of fuel, while maintaining strict quality standards and certifying pumps across the state to ensure Georgians get what they pay for.”
Through September 15, 2026, the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Fuel & Measures Division will align state-level enforcement with the federal waiver, allowing temporary flexibility on certain ethanol blending and volatility requirements to help increase fuel availability, prevent supply bottlenecks, and ease pressure on gas prices. All other applicable state and federal fuel quality and safety requirements remain in effect.
