L-Nutra of Culver City, California is recalling Prolon brand Apulian Almond & Cocoa Spread because it contains undeclared cashew, pistachio, and hazelnut. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashew, pistachio, and/or hazelnut run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The product was distributed via L-Nutra's e-commerce site, ProlonLife.com, either as a direct purchase or included in certain Prolon product bundles.
Recalled product can be identified as follows: Prolon brand Apulian Almond & Cocoa Spread, packaged in 8.47oz (240g) glass jars with UPC 850040360530. The recalled lot is L2755, and the expiration date is January 2, 2027, which can be found on the jar cap, directly beneath the expiration date.
To date, L-Nutra has documented one confirmed allergic reaction associated with this product.
The recall was initiated after testing confirmed the presence of undeclared tree nut allergens in product that did not disclose these ingredients on its label. The cause is still under investigation.
At this time, Lot L2755 is the only lot known to be affected.
