Commissioner Tyler Harper Announces Open Submissions for Annual Ag Week Photo Contest

ATLANTA, GA – Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper is excited to announce the opening of submissions for this year’s Georgia Ag Week Photo Contest. From today through March 24, 2025, participants of all ages are invited to capture and showcase the beauty and impact of Georgia agriculture. Whether highlighting the hardworking hands behind our crops, Georgia landscapes, or the communities that agriculture supports, this contest provides an opportunity to tell the stories that make Georgia’s agricultural industry a vital part of the nation’s economy.

“We’re excited to invite Georgia farmers and photographers alike to celebrate and showcase the every day beauty of our state’s #1 industry and the farm families who fuel its success,” said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper. “The photos we receive each year serve as a powerful testament to the hard work, beauty, and sense of community that define Georgia agriculture.”

Each submission will become part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s archives and may be featured in a variety of ways—from social media to even gracing the cover of the Georgia Grown Magazine. In fact, one of last year’s winning photos was selected as the cover image for the 2024 edition, highlighting the ongoing importance of this contest in capturing the essence of Georgia agriculture.

The contest features five categories, each celebrating a different aspect of Georgia agriculture:

  • Faces of Agriculture: Capture the heart of Georgia agriculture through the people who make it thrive, whether it's a farmer at work or a multi-generational family on the land.
  • Open Pastures & Growing Fields: Show off the breathtaking landscapes that define Georgia’s agricultural lands, from rolling pastures to peach orchards, cotton fields, and more.
  • Community Roots: Highlight how agriculture brings communities together, from bustling farmers markets to school gardens and agricultural fairs.
  • Youth Photography: A special category for photographers ages 17 and under. Show your unique perspective on Georgia agriculture, whether it's a favorite farm animal or the joy of planting something new.
  • Tools of the Trade: Focus on the essential equipment and tools that keep Georgia’s farms and agribusinesses running smoothly, from tractors to welding machines and hands at work.
